A California investor and housing developer, Gil Seton, Jr. has been in the affordable housing sector since the late eighties. His involvement with affordable housing began while he was at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and continued afterward with Calmark Development, which at the time was one of the largest affordable multifamily developers in the United States, where he oversaw the development and/or operation of over 1,000 units of affordable housing.
Mr. Seton moved on to create and become president of Showplace Development, Inc. in 1990. In this role, he oversaw the ground up development of affordable housing in the Los Angeles area. oversees the acquisition, project management, financing, and operational duties of the company’s housing projects.
In 2003, he founded SP Investment Fund LLC. He serves as SP's manager and has overseen SP and its affiliates' investment in and/or rehabilitation of over 10,000 units of affordable housing located in approximately 20 states all over the United States. He has also overseen SP's investment in approximately 40 early stage technology startups, many of which have business plans that will benefit society. Notable investments include SP's investments in Razorpay, Opentrons, and Gecko Robotics.
Mr. Seton’s work in the affordable housing sector extends to partnerships between his affiliated companies and organizations such as Community Housing Assistance, Inc. and LifeSTEPS. Outside of his life work with developing affordable housing, he donates to Operation Smile, Hearts with Hope Foundation, and the Women’s HIV Program at the University of California at San Francisco.
